Is QuickBooks Desktop On Its Way Out?

Oh, yes. Good ole’ QuickBooks Desktop. We love it. But maybe not as much as we used to.

Why? It’s expensive. So expensive, in fact, we are asking ourselves, “Is it even worth it?”

So, is Desktop going away? Are they really trying to price people out?

The reality for many businesses — the eventual answer will be yes. Desktop is already starting to stop offering support for older products, but it’s not as simple as saying it’ll be shut down completely.

I think the answer is, not necessarily today, but eventually, it will go away. Thus, you as an owner should start thinking about what’s next.

So, what’s the answer?

QuickBooks Online is one option. But don’t make the move right away. It’s different, and because it’s different, the transition can be tough.

Is it bad? No! It’s the only software I work with. But it’s different.

The good news about moving to the cloud — accessibility and collaboration. You can rest in this — those terrible rumors you hear of QBO…they’re not all true. It’s a good software and getting better all the time.
